About

Roque Cordero is considered one of the premier composers from Panama. He was a professor of composition at the National Conservatory in Panama from 1950 to 1964, and served as the school’s director for most of his professorship. His music theory instruction, Curso de solfeo, became a basis of music theory education throughout most of Latin America. A master of twelve tone composition, Cordero stylized the technique with his Panamanian roots, often infusing many Latin American rhythms into his works.
