Orville Mosley (1909-1995) was a composer, arranger, pianist, and educator. He was a child prodigy, having begun his piano studies at age two. By eleven, he was studying at a Chicago music college and four years later entered Morehouse College, which he later created the school anthem for. He held a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan and had done post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, New York University and USC. He taught early music education at Los Angeles city schools from the 1950s-1970s and also headed music departments at three colleges in California.
