About

Nadine Shanti (b. 1953) Born and raised in New Orleans, Nadine Shanti spent years perfecting her performance techniques while completing her degrees in music in Louisiana and Illinois. (Bachelor in Music Education, Master in Musicology). A move to Seattle in 1980 launched a career as a pop/jazz singer that included work in the Pacific Northwest and overseas in Japan, Indonesia and Okinawa. She has released two CD's of original music, "Down Home" and "Violet's Lane" which are a synthesis of her jazz, pop, Latin, folk and theatre influences. Since those releases, Nadine has toured the U.S. as an educator and performer, presenting workshops and concerts in Illinois, Tennessee, Alaska and Louisiana. She has performed as a guest artist with the Everett Symphony and for the benefit of the Wenatchee Valley Symphony.  She also co-wrote and starred in a "Tribute to Duke Ellington" for Vocalist and Swing Orchestra in regional jazz festivals and cabarets throughout the U.S. Nadine toured the Midwest with her "Tribute to Cole Porter", headlined the 9th Annual Jazz Festival in Wagga, New South Wales, Australia and continues to teach and tell stories about music, composition and the joys of performing within the structure of her concerts and classes. In March of 2010, she returned from traveling in Paris, Tanzania and Nigeria where she was a guest teacher in music at the American International School in Lagos.  Nadine continues to write and arrange music after retiring from actively performing and from teaching in Washington State public schools as a Music Specialist.
