About

Eurydice Osterman (b. 1950) a native of Atlanta, Georgia, is an internationally known composer, organist, pianist, and writer. Osterman earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degree from Andrews University in Michigan and received her Doctorate of Music degree in composition from the University of Alabama, studying with Harry Phillips. Osterman career has been rooted in teaching theory, piano, or conducting a choir. She has worked at institutions such as Oakwood College and Northern Caribbean University. In addition to her music, Osterman makes contributions to society such as establishing music programs and observing and analyzing the connection between cultural structures and their affects on music through her articles and lectures. She has received the Commendation Award for Meritorious Service, OC, 1993 and 2005; a listing in Notable Adventist Women of Today, in 1995, and numerous composition awards. Osterman is also a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
