About

Arthur Cunningham (1928-1997), a native of Piermont, New York, was a celebrated composer, conductor, and pianist who earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in music at Fisk University, his Master of Arts from Columbia University Teachers College, and did additional studies at Juilliard School of Music. He composed more than 75 works, ranging from art song to rock opera. Cunningham was known for his fusion of contemporary classical compositional techniques with rock, gospel, and jazz.
